This is about what you'd expect from any middle school, fairy-tale inspired book in this day and age. It was well-written, if not overdone. The humour was cute and the flow was pretty predictable, but nice.
I enjoyed the book, but kept in mind this is meant for younger middle schoolers that want to read something familiar with a twist. Aspects of this reminded me of older middle school reads I had read ages ago or the show Once Upon a Time
, but more PG.
It was better than I thought it would be. :) Anything to get kids to read something other than Geronimo Stilton
or Captain Underpants
, even Diary of a Wimpy Kid
. Srsly, this shit is selling like hot cakes at my store. How well do hot cakes sell anyway?
